Some more eperiments with stitches - the main letter is all in stem stitch, but shaded with a combination of 3 shades of blue (DMC 517, 518 and 519). Two threads in the needle to allow me to use two different shades in the needsle to help the shade transitions.
The stem of the flower for once is not stem stitch, but a twisted chain stitch. The leaves are a mixture of herringbone and raised herringbone stitch. Then the flower and dots in padded satin stitch.
I'm very pleased with this one - I really like the effect of the shading in stem stitch - it adds some texture and is fairly easy to fit into the various shapes - I was really worried about doing the cutout at the ottome of the E but it turned out nice and sharp.
