Mongogram number 3 is finished. Very simple to describe the stitches involved - a stem stitch in DMC Pearl for the letter outline and then lots and lots of French knots.
I chose lots of bright colours for this one, and tried to keep the colours regular so that there's always a bit of each colour in any area.
I love the versatility of the french knot - they fit into the little gaps left over even though there are always 2 threads in the needle. It can be easy to get bored of doing the same stitch over and over (and over and over), but keeping changing the colour helps, and its certainly a good way of getting good at a stitch.
Different books tell me different things, but I was told by Shelly Cox at the RSN that a French Knot is always a single loop around the needle (more is a Colonial knot, or if travelled a Bullion Knot). So all my knots (should be) a single twist - although there might be a few with two.
