It's been a while since my last post - but I've been working on something big, and didn;t want to share it until I's made some decent progress.
My parent's 40th wedding anniversary is coming up just before Christmas and I wanted to create an heirloom piece for them as part of the celebration. It's going to be largely reds (maybe a little gold highlight) on ivory silk backed with calico. I might then turn it into a pillow or...smething else, I've not decided yet.
The design is a mixture of mine and from Needle n Thread - the heart comes from the Heart o Flowers design, and the lettering comes from the Stich Sampler alphabet, but the gem I drew myself - I can't do curves very well yet but I'm alright with a straight line. I might add some more design elements once I'm done whats drawn out, but I dont want it to be crowded.
The left side of the heart is in padded satin stitch, and has taken a good amount of time to do - the satin stitch is done in a single thread, and the padding takes a good long time to stitch in. I also re-did some of the padding as the fabric was pulling (which I've not managed to eliminate entirely much to my annoyance) and some of the lines needed somoothing out a bit.. Some progress pics below:

First bit of satin stitch - hmm - it has a waist |
