Introduction to Embroidery

Before I get into my more recent projects - here is my very first non-cross-stich piece. My mother, sister and I all went to the Royal School of Needlework to do their Introduction to Embroidery day course.

We had a fabulous time, and this was the first time I'd ever received any lessons in how to embroider other stitches. This was whilst I was in my final recovery from my cancer treatment, and was a lovely way to spend a day with my family without it being too exhausting.

Stitching was great therapy for me whilst I was ill so it was a good way of capping off my treatment. I don't remember too many specifics from the day, as my brain was pretty fuddled at the time still, but below is my stitching from that day.

At the time I was very pleased with it, now I can also see my improvement in stitching in the meantime. Practice really does make perfect.

And a little one below I did one afternoon after a frustrating day at work - just french knots on a plain white background, but quite effective.
